Oooh I just strained my dandy flower oil out today! I plan on taking it with me to a massage tomorrow. I too hold all of my emotions in my back/neck musculature. I have heard herbalists say not to steep dandelion for as long as other herbs because it molds easily. I think I steeped mine for 2 weeks. It was fine. Can't wait to use it!
The title of this blog strikes a chord with me, I've said that if I have another daughter I'll name her Dandelion Sunshine :-D

I have some in a pint jar that has been sitting in my kitchen window since this past fall. I did add a bit of vodka to it to prevent the molding, but haven't actually tried the oil just yet! I'm going to try picking the flower heads and let them wilt just a bit this spring before I put them in the jar with the olive oil. I may also put a paper towel on the top for a week or so to allow any excess moisture evaporate and see how that does. I'm anxiously awaiting my dandelions to open up here in SD!

Uh-oh! I'll watch carefully for mold. I've had really good luck with all my oils so far. Thanks for the heads up. Maybe I won't leave it in the window the entire time after all. I saw a suggestion recently to float vodka on top of the oil to prevent mold from growing while it is brewing in a sunny window. Have you ever done that?

Fresh Dandelion flower infused oil is so pretty...the first time I made it and put it in the window, I left it too long and it got moldy-I have had better luck with about a one week infusion. Best wishes and enjoy those dandelions.
