What a gorgeous specimin here! Lovely blue! ...I really enjoyed the story about hubby. My own beloved spent our first two years in the country stubbornly refusing to learn a single plant... though I kept quizzing him. I eventually gave up... and then, one day a few months later, we were on our eveing walk and suddenly he was shouting everything thing out at once (and I.D.ing correctly!): "Dogwood!" "Dearbrush!" "Madrone!" .... it was actually soaking in the whoel time! I guess he just needed me to "quit pushin'..." Now he's as good at I.D. as I am. Probably better. Amazing.--- Ah, marriage, the great humbler of the soul. (;

Sculletaria is quite a varied genus, isn't it? I'm amazed. It's the unique flower that gives it away though. I understand they have the same form across species, and nearly identical medicinal properties as well. Is that your understanding? That's funny about your husband. I can so relate!

Hi Tammy

Your skullcap looks very different from mine. I've just harvested my main crop and will be drying half for tea and half is going to be made into tincture tonight. You can see a pictue on my blog .
It's interesting how our husbands become educated despite themselves. My husband now recognises motherwort plants and goats rue when he's digging and waxes lyrical to other people about dandelion syrup because he has it on his porridge and has started putting it in his coffee because he likes it!

How sweet of your husband! That is my kind of boquet. I planted some skullcap this spring. I look forward to harvesting next year. Sounds like you are surrounded by a herbal bounty.
